Rasulallah (ﷺ) said, “Whoever does not give up false statements (telling lies), and evil deeds, and speaking bad words to others, Allah is not in need of his (fasting) leaving his food and drink.”
It’s disturbing to see so many people who think they have the license to say anything and everything they want, so much so that whatever that comes out from their mouth (or on the social media) are nothing but insult, backbite, slandering, trolling, spreading lies and gossips.
One of the things that most of us often neglect when we’re fasting is watching our tongue (and hands) from speaking (and posting) whatever that is not pleasing to Allah s.w.t. Allah is in no need of our leaving food and drink if we go around abusing others with our tongue. We often fail to realize what we say / post, and how detrimental it can be for our Akhirah. This is important outside Ramadhan, but it is even more severe in Ramadhan.
So be careful. Be mindful of what we say. And if someone anger or annoy you, say: I’m fasting. Don’t fight. Remove yourself from that scene.
This is a reminder for myself foremost.
