[Revive a Sunnah] The Light For The Believers: Grey Hair

The Light for the Believers: Growing grey hair in Islam (and not plucking them)

Rasulallah s.a.w. said:
❝Do not pluck out grey hair. If any believer grows a grey hair in Islam, he will have light on the Day of Resurrection.❞ With another chain it is: ❝Allah will record on his behalf a good deed for it, and will blot out a sin for it.❞ [Sunan Abu Dawood]

It is also reported that Rasulallah s.a.w. forbade plucking out white hairs and said: ❝It is the light of the believer.❞ [Sunan Ibn Maajah] In Sunan al-Tirmidhee, the wordings are: ❝It is the light of the Muslim.❞

But one should dye the hair while avoiding the black color. On the day of the conquest of Makkah, Abu Quhaafah (the father of Abu Bakr r.a.) was brought (in the presence of Rasulallah s.a.w.) while his head and beard were white. The Prophet s.a.w. said: ❝Change it with something but avoid black.❞ [Sahih Muslim]

Alhamdulillah for growing grey hair in Islam 🙂
