[Al-Baqarah 2:152] Remember Me, I’ll Remember You

Therefore remember Me, I will remember you…
[Al-Baqarah 2:152]

There is a beautiful relationship that is being described here.

We remember important people all the time, we make mention of them in our conversations. Sometimes people talk about artists and politicians, but these people don’t remember you. They’re too big to think about you, they don’t care nor want to know about you. It’s not a 2-way street relationship.

Now who is more important than Allah s.w.t.? None. Yet Allah s.w.t. says: You remembering Me, and as a result, I will remember you. What an amazing honor that He makes a point to remember us!

In hadith Bukhari, Allah s.w.t. says:

“I am just as My slave thinks I am (i.e. I am able to do for him what he thinks I can do for him) and I am with him if he remembers Me.
If he remembers Me in himself, I too, remember him in Myself;
and if he remembers Me in a group of people,
I remember him in a group that is better than they;

and if he comes one span nearer to Me,
I go one cubit nearer to him;

and if he comes one cubit nearer to Me,
I go a distance of two outstretched arms nearer to him;

and if he comes to Me walking,
I go to him running.”

So what has stopped motivating us from making the effort to gain such honour from Allah, the Most High?
