[Al-Furqan 25:63] Being Humble and Peaceful

And the slaves of the Most Merciful (ibad-ur Rahman) are those who walk on the earth humbly & when the ignorant people speak to them, they reply peacefully. [Al-Furqan 25:63]

1. Ibad-ur Rahman are those who walk, drive – however way they hang out in society – have a sense of humility before Allah & humbled in the way they walk & talk.

2. There is a litmus test to know whether we are humble & it is in the same ayat: When Jahilun (i.e. referring to those who have no control over their emotions eg. ignorant / angry / disrespectful people) talk to them, the ibad-ur Rahman say “salaam”.

3. Remember the story of Musa a.s. with Firaun: Firaun tried to kill Musa a.s., killed thousands of babies every year, called himself God… there are so many reasons to hate Firaun. Yet Musa a.s. was commanded by Allah s.w.t. to be nice to him! (Q20:44)

4. Speak to people calmly & peacefully. Speak to disarm. We have to learn to be merciful & courteous to others.
